Fwd: Expanded Standardized Testing Policies
From: Colby College
Sent: Friday, October 14, 3:24 PM
Subject: Expanded Standardized
Dear
I am thrilled to announce an expansion of The Colby Commitment, our global effort to ensure the most talented students from every background have access to a remarkable education at one of the world's top colleges. Recognizing that paying to report standardized test scores can be a challenge for many, we now welcome self-reported scores – either the SAT, ACT, or two Subject Tests – for admission to Colby.
These expanded test-flexible policies build upon our longstanding commitment to reducing barriers in the admissions and financial aid process. We continue to meet 100 percent of each student’s demonstrated financial need without including loans in our financial aid packages. There is no fee to apply, and there are no additional essays or writing supplements to submit.
Colby is also deeply committed to supporting student success on campus and beyond. The acceptance rate for Colby graduates applying to medical school is more than 30 percent higher than the national five-year average. Our students and alumni were accepted at 16 of the top 20 law schools last year. Members of the Class of 2015 saw impressive success across all industries, with 95% either employed or in graduate school within six months of graduation.
A new center for discovery, global impact, and postgraduate achievement will open in the fall of 2017 to further support extraordinary student experiences, including international study opportunities, research endeavors, and global internships. These initiatives will be leveraged by a powerful and loyal network of faculty, staff, alumni, and parents who offer mentoring, resources, and advising to Colby students and graduates.

Sincerely,
Dr. Matthew T. Proto
